If your child didn’t get the $120 on your SNAP card or you didn’t receive a Sun Bucks card for your child in the mail, here's what you need to know:
Application Date: As of August 19, 2024, you can start applying at sunbucks.la.gov. It's important to apply as soon as possible because the deadline is September 20, 2024. Don't wait until the last day to apply.
Review and Mailing: Applications will be reviewed by the Sun Bucks Committee. If approved, cards will be mailed to the address on file at your child’s school.
Card Activation: When you receive the card, it will initially have no benefits. The $120 benefit will be added to the card starting August 30, 2024.
Children who should apply during Phase 3 include students at CEP schools who were not automatically eligible in Phase 1 (SNAP recipients), or Phase 2 (Medicaid, FITAP, KCSP & NSLP benefits), children experiencing homelessness, and migrant children.
Children who should already be enrolled include children ages 5-18 (born between August 15, 2005, and July 1, 2018) who received SNAP, income-based Medicaid, FITAP, or KCSP benefits during the 2023-2024 school year and students at NSLP schools who applied and qualified for free or reduced-price meals.
Children who do not attend NSLP/CEP schools are not eligible for SUN Bucks unless they received SNAP, income-based Medicaid, FITAP, or KCSP benefits and they were born between August 15, 2005, and July 1, 2018.
Children who were streamline certified in Phase 1 or Phase 2 were automatically enrolled in SUN Bucks, and many have already received their one-time $120 benefit. The SUN Bucks program will start issuing EBT cards to eligible NSLP students in late August.
To learn more, visit sunbucks.la.gov, email
sunbucks@la.gov, or call the SUN Bucks helpline at 833-323-7482. Please contact
sunbucks@la.gov with questions.
Note: The Lincoln Parish School Board does not handle the application reviews or card issuances.
